Oakland – The Port of Oakland

The Port of Oakland is the fifth busiest port in the United States with trade coming in and out from Asia, Europe, and Oceania. Along with being a pivotal commerce hub for Northern California, the port is also a source of urban myth. It has been said that the cranes served as creative inspiration for iconic AT-AT walkers in the Star Wars saga. While George Lucas has adamantly denied the myth, we still like to think it makes for a great Bay Area legend to have walkers in our backyard — plus the cranes bring great industrial beauty to the port.
