Cow Hollow
The Greater HoodCow Hollow was once inhabited by farmers and fishermen, as the waterline was much further inland than is it today. During the gold rush, this area became its own "gold mine" to raise cattle, with its grasslands and a large freshwater pond. First, there were dairy farms which eventually made way for slaughterhouses as food demands increased. Today, Cow Hollow is a bustling, affluent neighborhood full of boutiques and cupcakeries, but its name keeps its history alive.
